Robins egg blue cheval mirror

Just finished waxing this bad boy today.  I'm fixing to list it on CL and hope that it sells.  I also took more picsof the table, it's not the same color, but it looks similar.  I'm not good at the before and during pics, but here is what I did.  It was an orangey oak color.  It was mine, so it was free :)  I sanded the old finish off by hand and afterwards primed it.  The next day I painted all of the edges in a brown paint and later that night I sanded again.  The next day (yes, I rarely finish anything quickly) I painted it with the blue color and once that was dry I sanded the edges just enough to let the brown show through.  Once that was finished I used a little bit of gel stain to give it an aged appearance.  The following day (smile) I gave it a handrubbed wax with Minwax Paste Wax and finally I was done!  That didn't take me long, now did it?

Sage green and barn red...

I have a fairly small living room, so there is very little room for end tables. We have this one skinny end table that we have on one side of the couch, but my husband and I always fight over who gets to sit by the table (for our drink). I was in the thrift store and I saw this fairly skinny table that would work, but it was $30! Ugghh, stupid over priced thrift store!! At least I get a military discount though :) So I got it home and worked on it and now we have an end table on both sides of the couch. Yay. Here is a before pic:
and here it is after we got better acquainted:
Now I'm working on a cheval mirror and a couple of other things.  I'm getting tired of all of my paint colors though.  Does that ever happen to anyone else? Linking to:

Those flippin' before pictures!

Hmmm, am I the only one that seems to ALWAYS forget to take before pictures.  I usually realize it in the middle of a project and run and get the camera, but it isn't the same :(  Anyways, the other day I was strolling through the thrift store (my new obsession) and I found some things...ummm not too sure what they were supposed to be exactly, but I liked their shape.  They had lots of character, so I snatched them up.  When I got home I covered them with some of that stuff that you use to fill holes.  You know what I'm talking about, right?  After it dried I sanded them a little bit. I wish I would've taken before pictures, but I only remembered after I had
put on the nail hole stuff.  So, here are a few pics:

This one I actually bought at Ross for $5bucks, but it was a little bland...

So after the stuff dried and a bit of sanding, I painted and/or glazed them all up.  And here they are in their new home:

on top of my dresser.  Much better!  Such a cute little trio.  Till next time...

Yayness...Woot! Woot!

Yesterday afternoon the UPS man came and delivered my awesome new Super Prism Art Projector that I won over at Twice Lovely.    Anne Marie has done some wonderful things with hers, so I'm excited to try it out.  Thanks again Twice Lovely and Artograph for the awesome gift!

Attack of my Attention Deficit Disorder

I saw this really awesome idea over at Sawdust and Paperscraps  that you can see here and I had to stop doing what I was doing, take down all of my pictures in what we call our "hall of fame" and color coordinate them.  It was very time consuming, but I'm all about the outcome and the outcome this time is good!  Here is my before picture (I'm not so great at picture taking, but ADD prevents me from reading instruction manuals- or tutorials for that matter)!  So, here is my stairway before and after:
        Ugly mismatched frames:

This was my focal point.  My favorite frame from a dear friend.
And here it is all nice and matchy matchy...

Here are some close ups of how I painted and distressed them...

I couldn't stop there, so here is the top of my stairs...

and here is the upstairs hallway...

and I found a cool place in my room for my canvas...

and have you ever had a favorite frame, but no current picture that you deemed "frame worthy"?
That is what I've got going on here:
One of these days I'll get a picture in that there frame.  Have a great Friday!  P.S.  Anyone know why I have the huge gap of empty space at the top of this post?  When I try to edit the post there isn't a big gap like that.  I'm still new at all of this ;)

Staging to sell question

Hopefully all 5 of my followers will read this lol!  I notice that many of you "stage" your items for pictures.  I've taken all of my pics in my garage and it isn't very pretty.  Not to mention the fact that I'm no good at picture taking anyway.  So I'm wondering, do ya'll drag the pieces into your own house to take pictures of them to post to sell?  What if it's a big heavy item, say a dresser, and your bedroom is upstairs?  And also, the color of the walls don't really coordinate with the piece being pictured?  What do you do?  All of my bedrooms are upstairs and every room in my house is painted a different color.  I'll be back soon with my latest.

Advice for a newbie?

I am amazed at all of the finds that I see on everyone's blogs.  AND so cheap!  Like an amazing buffet table for $30 or an ornate dresser for $15!  Granted, they need some work, but still they are great finds!  I search Craigslist and thrift stores and can't find anything like that.  Am I looking in the wrong place?  I go to garage sales, but we don't have any flea markets or anything like that in Hawaii.  IF I do find something that would look awesome refinished they want like $80 for it, and that's on the low side.  Usually its over $100 and I just can't afford to fork out that kind of money plus to resell it I would have to charge a fortune to make a profit and I don't see that happening.  What gives?  Any advice?  Thanks in advance!

Linking up?

I'm still trying to figure out how to link back up to other blogs via their button.  I've figured out how to link their blog to mine, but haven't figured out how to get their button onto mine.  If I've linked up to you and you don't see your button that is why.  Please be patient, or feel free to give me some direction ;)  Thanks!

End table do over

Got this little baby for $20.  Not as cheap as I would've liked, but cheap enough to be my first "for sale" project.  I picked out a cool blue for the color.  It's the same paint that I used in my old living room so it was free.  Free paint is the best paint!  Here it is after I painted, sanded, glazed and waxed it.

I'm pretty proud of it.  I would've loved it in my old living room where it would've matched.  I plan to post it on Craigslist today and hope (fingers crossed) that I can sell it.  It would be my first sale!  If I could make money pursuing a hobby, well, that would be slightly WONDERFUL!  Not sure how much to ask for it though.  I don't want to ask too much.

I'm thinking $50?  Since I paid $20 that would still give me a $30 profit.  What do ya'll think?
